On may30,2022, the WTO Safeguard Measures committee released the safeguard measures notification submitted to it by the EU delegation on may26,2022. The European Union announced that it would make a ruling on the review of safeguard measures for imported steel products before July 1. The announcement announced the preliminary adjustment of quota quantity and allocation method, and proposed to increase the annual increase rate of quota from 3% to 4%. The reexamination decision will take effect from July 1, 2022 and will be valid until June 30, 2024. This case involves 26 categories of steel products.



   On march26,2018, the European Commission launched an investigation on Safeguard Measures for imported steel products. On january31,2019, the EU imposed a 25% safeguard measure tax on imported steel products outside the quota. On December 17, 2021, the European Commission launched the fifth round of review and investigation on the safeguard measures for imported steel products.
